  • General Information

    • STARBASE Alpena opened in April 2012

    • National STARBASE program at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan in April of 1991 with a W.K. Kellogg Grant

    • 800 students served annually (basic, advanced, and supplemental programs)

    • Over 7,500 participants since inception

    • No cost to students and schools (participants only provide transportation and lunches)

    • 9,704 square foot learning facility

    • Two on-site classrooms and spacious immersive learning environments

  • Population Served

    • Serve public and private schools from Alpena, Montmorency, Oscoda, and Presque Isle counties during school year

    • 32 classrooms annually from 23 different schools and 8 districts

    • After school Advanced STEM club at Thunder Bay Junior High School (Alpena Public Schools)

    • Supplemental basic and advanced programs in summer months open to students statewide

    • Various community outreach events held at area elementary schools and community partner locations

    • Two fully equipped, technology-based classrooms
